Grief and Loss

Grief can change the way you experience nearly every part of your life. The death of someone you love can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, angry, lost, or unsure about how to move forward. Grief also follows other significant losses - a divorce, the end of a relationship, a change in family or career, the loss of a role or identity, or a future you once imagined for yourself. There is no single way to grieve, and there is no timetable that works for everyone.

Therapy can provide a place to talk honestly about the loss and whatever comes with it. You may be struggling with sadness, loneliness, guilt, anger, regret or questions that don't have easy answers. You may also find yourself wondering how to move forward without feeling like you're leaving someone or something important behind. We can work together to understand your experience, make room for the emotions that come with loss, and find ways to reconnect with the parts of life that remain.

My approach is grounded in existential therapy, which recognizes that significant loss can change our understanding of ourselves, our relationships, and the meaning we find in life. Grief isn't something you simply have to "get over". Sometimes the work is learning how to carry the loss while creating a life that can still have meaning and purpose. Therapy offers a space to remember, reflect, and gradually find your way forward in a way that respects what - and who - you have lost.
